Wii News Channel is Early
By on January 26th, 2007
Since when is the gaming industry early? The Wii News Channel was suposed to make its debut this Saturday. How do I know this? I read it in the News Channel on my Wii. No time traveling needed.
Oh and since you want my opinion, the News Channel is wonderful. The 3-D globe thing is pretty neat if you want to zoom into a region. There are a lot of articles to read, and some have images, which can be zoomed to full screen.
The text zoom feature is a cool effect. When you zoom in/out, the words to the article move into place on the line above or below. Nice eye candy for something as boring as news.
I see myself checking the News Channel a lot.

WarioWare: Smooth Moves
By on January 23rd, 2007
If you have a Nintendo Wii, you need to get WarioWare: Smooth Moves. The game is pure gold, and unlimited fun.
My major complaint — and it is a major complaint — is that there is no multiplayer at all. It is a single player game, in which you will have to pass the Wii Remote around to play quasi-multiplayer. If you want to enter another name, and connect another Mii, you have to head back to the main menu. This makes it cumbersome to be able to easily fight over who has the highest score.
The game has over 200 “microgames” to play. They are all pretty insane, just like every other WarioWare out there. But since you use the Wii Remote, the experience is even better than twisting your GBA around.
Once you complete the game proper, you unlock a version that requires both the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk - for even more intense play.
With this game and Wii Sports, the Wii is turning into the party console. Now it just needs a Guitar Hero…

Games on the iPod
By on January 17th, 2007
Sure, the iPod has had Brick, Music Quiz, Parachute, and Solitaire for a while now, but last September brought even better ways to put off work - if you own a fifth generation iPod.
I just bought a black 5G iPod, and of course the first thing I did was download games from the iTunes Music Store. They are all $4.99, and some offer a great deal of game for that small price.
Sadly, there have been no additions beyond the initial eleven. I hope more games get released soon.
Still, the initial launch was strong, and I intend to write some mini-reviews for the games here on the BG News Blog, so check back soon.
